The Crashing Waves

Interconnectedness

I sometimes wonder if nature is a direct reflection of every atom of our existence.

The thundering lightning, fierce gusts, or the crashing of waves.

I can’t help feel that somehow I am connected to nature, particularly the wildness of the ocean.

The vast magnitude of wild water that could swallow us whole at any given moment.

The ocean is just that; a euphemism for life.

It’s ever present, ever living, while embodying millions of living organisms all at one time.

A beautiful yet savage beast that is unpredictable, and yet so predictable all at the same time.

One day the ocean is calm, and at ease, as though it is just an extension of the land.

A body of water that holds you in the perfect rhythm with the flow of water and the flow of life.

The next day, the velocity of water drowns you with every breath, as you struggle to keep your head above water, unable to find rhythm and flow.

Weathering The Storm

One thing I have learnt in life is the weather will come and it will go.

Tomorrow the sun will rise, and the next day the wind will blow.

The real question is how could we ever become a skilful sailor if we were never tested.

We don’t become the highest versions of ourselves by floating in calmness.

That breeds mediocrity.

A true sailor knows not only how to navigate a body of water when it is calm, but most importantly when it is not.

Today your ship is empty, tomorrow you might have a crew, but one thing is always certain; you will always be the captain.

We may find ourselves engulfed in water, sailing in the most frantic seas, or we could be without navigation, with only a lighthouse to guide us.

But at the end of the day, we all know that it simply starts and ends with us.
